The Lynn Valley Black Bear Band, based in North Vancouver, B.C., was created in September 2004. While its original purpose was to meet the pent-up social and musical needs of a few grown-ups who hadn’t been “invited out to play” for a long time, the band has in fact attracted adults of all ages and abilities.
We play a variety of concert band pieces, from classical to contemporary, and are looking forward to planning a few gigs over the year. (We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll be invited to Lynn Valley Day.)
There was some wild talk of doing a road trip, but as dues are only $20 per month, we felt the band couldn’t afford the Partridge Family-style bus just yet.
We meet on Monday nights at 7:30 p.m., in the Argyle Secondary School band room (1131 Frederick Road), with longtime band teacher Ken Osterreicher conducting.
Following practice there is often a optional "debriefing" session in our sponsoring establishment, the Black Bear Neighbourhood Pub at Lynn Valley Centre. We thank them for their support.
